In the studio, there;s a lot of different software which may be in use. They all have slightly different capabilities and there is more than one way to get that perfect sound. If you are up on these different programs and what they can offer to the producer, you will have an easier time deciding which to use to get that “just right” sound for your recordings. Read on for a brief rundown on some of the most popular options:

1) MIDI – Standing for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, this is an older technology and as such has some limitations when it comes to editing in stereo. There are however a lot of prebuilt MIDI patches available and MIDI offers a broad palette which should not be dismissed out of hand because of its age; indeed, MIDI is still in use in just about every studio.

2) Adobe Audition – This is a very easy to use software package which can provide even the home user with professional sounding mixing and mastering capabilities; again, it has some limitations, but its ease of use and its versatility make it a favorite of many.

3) Band in a Box – This is a piece of software for Mac systems that is ideal for smaller scale recordings and is designed largely for the novice. This software can help you build arrangements and as such is used by some as a sort of sketch pad for recordings. This by no means implies that you cannot use Band in a Box to make your recordings, however.

4) Cakewalk – At one time available only for Mac, this is now an option for Windows based systems as well. This is a MIDI based program which also offers some mixing and mastering capabilities.

5) Fruity Loops – This is more effective as a tool for creating and mixing loops than as a recording suite per se, although it can be used for both. A favorite of DJs and minimalists.

6) Vegas – Like Adobe Audition, Vegas is a multitracking solution which can also provide mixing and mastering capabilities. Individual tracks can be EQ’d just as in Adobe Audition.

7) Cubase – A larger and more complex program, Cubase offers a lot of versatility to the user. Unlimited numbers of patches (called VSTs) may be used on a single track for a full sound. Cubase also has a host of plugins and add-ons available for it which expand its capabilities. A great piece of software with a little bit of a learning curve.
Studio Vision – A higher end option for Mac systems, Studio Vision offers a lot of control over your tracks and is a top choice of professionals who use Mac systems in the studio.

9) Reason – Somewhat similar to fruity Loops, this is another suite which has found a large audience among DJs, hip hop producers and others who work with loops and rhythms. It can do more than this, but looping is its specialty.

10) Pro Tools – This is the industry standard software and one of the best known tools in the recording field. There are a lot of options for the use of VSTs and complete control over tracks. ProTools takes some learning to get the most out of, but its versatility makes it well worth the effort.

Each of these software options has different capabilities for producers and some programs will work well for some while not suiting the needs of others. If you know about all of these programs, you will be able to choose and effectively use their capabilities for your recordings.

Myspace is a household name, so why cant your band be that as well? With the innovation and the recognition of Myspace as a viable marketing and networking option, new users are signing up each and every day for a variety of reasons and while Myspace caters to just about every group and interest, it is the musicians that have the chance to benefit the most.

The Music section of Myspace sees a lot of traffic, and that is a major understatement. With so much information presented, it is easy to become lost in the shuffle. New bands that have decided to use Myspace as a way to display their talents may become discouraged as the weeks pass by and no one is listening to their songs. This is an important and a major concern for those establishing a presence on Myspace. Being invisible on a social networking site is simply depressing and when you are trying to make a name and a presence for yourself, it is discouraging as well.

So how does one avoid being invisible on Myspace?

This question has a relatively simple answer but the exact procedure on how to accomplish it may be a little more complex. It is no longer enough to simply set up a page, invite a few random friends and wait. Extra steps are needed.

First, here’s a quick lesson in basics:

Bands are able to post songs on their page for visitors to listen to. How many times the songs are played are calculated and displayed for the public to see. Visitors to the site can see the amount of Total Plays, the amount of plays for that day or Plays Today, and the plays for each individual song. These plays counts are perhaps the most important part of your page. It will be theses counts that will persuade many of the guests to take a listen to what you have to offer. The higher the counts, the more realistic it is to say that more people will take notice of your band. This is simply common logic.

Using promotional tools is a great way to achieve the play counts which will attract and keep people coming back to your site. Soon you will notice your band ranked among the Top Artists. More Myspace Plays is a proven tool that will increase play counts, gather recognition, and help you climb the Myspace music ranks.

Another way to determine popularity of a band is how many Friends are listed. While this is secondary concern, with Myspace plays counts being primary, those Friends can say a lot about the band. You will need more than just Tom listed to attract fans and devotees to your site. Make strides and invite those with similar interests and musicians that you admire or that share your genre.

The amount of Friends listed is another visual way of displaying that you are indeed, not invisible, and have a definite presence on Myspace. Sure, guests will want you to be your friend but taking that first step will be appreciated and show that you are friendly and personable.

Invisibility on Myspace is simply not something an up and coming musician needs. Making a presence, having popular songs, and attracting friends and fans are all ways to stave off invisibility.

You have already created a Myspace page for your band, or if you are a solo artist, you have created a page for yourself and your music. You have filled out the profile information, posted pictures, invited a few friends, and written some whimsical blog entries chronicling a few of the crazier moments at local shows. You even posted a few songs, something that should not be forgotten since it is your music that you want to get out into the web. Now you keep checking the page and waiting for that big breakthrough moment but it just hasn’t happened yet and you are left wondering why.

The fact is that while your band and your music may be great and may even be the next Big Thing to resuscitate your chosen genre and even the musical world in general, there just is not enough buzz about your band. Myspace, much like the music industry, is competitive, so it is vital that you are able to compete on a level that can make strides and grant you that leading edge that separates the wanna-bes from the real contenders.

The serious users of Myspace are able to use that site and everything provided and available to them in such a manner as to climb the ranks and make a visible appearance. In other words, you can not just sit around and wait. You have to be proactive.

This is your future, your career choice and as such you will have to make an effort. It is not easy, despite what the movies and television may have led you to believe. Dedication is the only way to make it in such a career. With Myspace and promotional tools, it has become easier.

So, what separates the dedicated from the failures? Your Myspace Plays counts. Your time on Myspace is going to be dominated by the constant tally of these play counts. These numbers are a direct indication of how popular your songs are and how popular your band is.

Myspace uses the play counts as a way to rank the artists into the top of their genre and of the site overall. That way any visitors are able to sort through the bands and music according to their own criteria and see who is top in either rock, rap, or the other genres. To say that play count is everything is going to extreme, but not by much.

To not be concerned about play count is foolish. Those play counts are going to be the only indicator of how popular your music is. Everyone from casual music listeners to music executives look at play counts to determine if your music is worth the time and investment.

What else can be so accurate and draw so much attention other than play counts? The amount of Friends you have does speak volumes but are they really fans or do they just want to bolster their own Friends page? Only the play counts give a realistic view of how popular your band and your songs are.

You can use the amount of myspace music player play counts to gain publicity and book venues and gigs that would otherwise turn you away. These numbers are a guarantee that your music is good and will draw fans and business. It is even possible, that with high play counts and a great presence on Myspace that venues will be asking you to play before you even realize how popular your band has become.

Now that you understand how important play counts are, how are you going to go about raising those numbers?

Use a service with a proven method and guarantees an increase in play counts. The same method used by already established artist is available for those upcoming musicians. The service must have promotional tools with visible results and understands how important play counts are and all the doors these numbers can open. They must be ready and willing to help out the new musicians by providing affordable help with amazing results.

Music has become an integral part of our lives. Whatever be the occasion, music can add a different dimension to it. Whether you are driving alone on a long stretch, or partying or even simply relaxing, music can be your perfect partner. Music videos go one step ahead of the conventional CDs in that they also play to our optical senses. This gives us a much more complete experience since you now have a person who is performing in front of you rather than just a voice playing back.

There are plenty of options available in music videos. You can choose from your titles available as VCDs and DVDs. However, thanks to the Internet, you can now access music videos online as well. To top it up, if you love music but do not like spending a lot of money on CDs or fee-based music download sites, you also have an option of accessing a music download service that offers you free music videos! These free music videos could be a trailer to a new release or a complete song.

Nowadays, even the record companies are uploading the videos of their artists to promote the CD sales. These include the sites from the Big Five i.e. Sony, EMI, BMG, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. Then there are regular sites like yahoo (music.yahoo.com), msn (music.msn.com) or music.aol.com etc. that offer free music videos on demand. Most of these sites are very well organized and make your quest for a particular song easy. You can search by the name of the artist, the name of the album, the genre of the music or even top 100 music videos!

These also have help section so if you are experiencing any problems with your search or any other technical difficulty, you have all the answers at the click of your mouse. These sites also have facility of free download of the latest playback software. There are also plenty of other sites like www.findvideos.com or www.artistdirect.com that compile music from various providers and make it accessible on their websites. These sites have titles from almost all the artists, covering all the genres.

So whether you are looking at checking out songs or albums before you actually go ahead and purchase it, or you need to play back some good music while you are surfing, there are plenty of free music video sites for help. So, play on!

There are so many websites out there to download music, but which one is the best? I don’t want to spend too much time on each one, just a couple of things to point out that I came across while evaluating each one of these methods for downloading MP3′s. So take 5 minutes of you time and read through this article and see which one is right for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Monthly Fees Apply to These

Let’s start with the 3 most popular that everyone knows about- I-Tunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and eMusic.

i-Tunes- I liken i-Tunes to AOL 10-12 years ago. Everyone used AOL as their ISP, just because they didn’t know better. Other ISP’s took you to the same internet for less than half the price. Once people caught on and realized this they started using other ISP’s. Same thing with i-Tunes. They were kind of the first legitimate music download site. Sure they have a few extra bells and whistles that other music download sites don’t have. But do you really want to pay more for the same MP3′s you could get else where? A lot of people are abandoning i-Tunes these days for less expensive alternatives. I did, and I’m glad I did. $.99/per track.

Napster- the once proud home of FREE MP3 downloads. Until Metalica went before congress and ruined it for all of us. Gone are the days of FREE MP3′s. So if that is what you are looking for, forget about it. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE MP3′S. If you find something out there promising this, be careful, it’s probably illegal, so shame on you. Anyway Napster had to reinvent themselves and now you pay for their service. It’s ok, I guess, but I like others better. $12.95/month

Rhapsody- I really like Rhapsody and it has many loyal users, I used it for many years myself. It’s easy to use, they have a pretty good selection and by far the best search utility to help you find the music you are looking for. If you’re just looking for MUSIC Downloads, this is a pretty good way to go. The only downside is the monthly fees you have to keep dishing out. $12.99 for Rhapsody, and $12.99 if you want to get Real Player Plus. It was just announced recently that Rhapsody will acquire Yahoo! Music, so it should be interesting to see what benefit that will bring th Rhapsody users.

The following have the option of 1 year, 2 year, or lifetime memberships. No monthly fees apply.

These 2 are almost identical. Mostly the same features, software is almost the same to use. Some have more files available for downloading, but all in all pretty much the same thing, when it comes down to it.

Unlimitedmp3downloads.com
Liftetime membership $34.94

MP3Download.net
Liftetime membership $34.95

My Top 2 Favorites by Far:

Zune
300 Million files- This one is really popular right now. Tons of new registrations each day.
Liftetime membership $34.95 for MP3
Liftetime membership $49.95 for video and MP3

The best thing about this one is the free bonuses you get. Free DVD/CD copying software (make backup’s of your favorite DVD’s, a must if you have kids like me that destroy things), free spyware/adware/pop-up blocker/ antivirus software and personal firewall. $245 in bonus software. With all the security risks today, if you’re online a lot like I am you need these tools to protect your computer. They are all yours free when you register with Zune Empire. you really can’t beat that! Even if you never used the MP3 software, it’s worth it just get all that other software free.

K-Lite
800 Million songs and videos. Can you even get your head around that number. Talk about a selection!
No monthly fees, unlimited downloads, no spyware or adware (this is very important- some MP3 sites out there will give you real cheap access, but then flood your computer with spyware and adware. Trust me, you don’t want that.
Liftetime membership $39.95 for MP3
DVD Backup Software $9.95
DVD Quality Movie Downloads $9.95

This is a little more expensive than the others ($5.00 for Music, $19.90 for Movies and CD/DVD software) but the price is worth it when it comes to the selection and ease of use. If you don’t want the other two pieces of software, this is the best one. If you really got have that software, go with Zune Empire for $49.95.

The last 4 companies listed here are all pretty much the same thing/same price. It’s just a matter of personal preference. Having tried them all, I would highly recommend either of the last two- Zune Empire or K-Lite. They have the biggest selection, most features, and best customer support. You really can’t go wrong for $34.95. That is less than what I would pay to take my wife out to dinner at someplace half way decent.

The bottom line is, if you’re like me, you probably invested $200-$400 on a decent MP3 player. You want to get the most out of it- Music, Videos, Movies, etc. Scrounge up the $34.95 or $49.95 if you want videos, and invest in some software that will let you use your MP3 player for what it was intended for. You’ll be glad you did.

Recording technology has advanced far beyond magnetic tape on large reels and recording everything live in the studio. New developments are happening all the time, both within the recording industry itself and with the technology used in recording. This is making more different sorts of recordings and recording setups possible.

Recording has actually gotten simpler and cheaper with each passing year. No longer does the would-be recording engineer or self producing artist need to invest thousands upon thousands in equipment. Newer recording equipment offers more capabilities and versatility with a lower price tag.

The biggest news in the field is of course digital recording technologies. Everything can be recorded digitally, right off of the board. Digital recording makes for a clearer, crisper sound and a wider frequency range.

New digital technology brings with it new, more compact mixing consoles. Great for bedroom studios and the like where space is at a premium, many of these boards have all the capabilities of a larger analog based board and can even handle everything without the use of an external computer or added software. This streamlines the entire process of recording and allows for much easier remote recordings, such as live shows and field recordings.

Along with these advances in recording is the near omnipresence of electronic musical instruments (think of samplers and sequencers, for instance), allowing entirely new kinds of sounds to be produced. That perfect sound once unattainable now is within reach and almost anyone can be their own arranger thanks to these new technologies.

Other musical equipment has kept pace. Amps, microphones and the like are being seen in constantly improving models. All in one amplifier/microphone combos are available, which can record as you play and are ideal for capturing a live performance without the interference of crowd noise, poor microphone placement, etc.

Due to the very different acoustics of studios versus live music venues, equipment can be divided into those that are better suited for one purpose than the other. Studio settings call for reducing resonance; in live recording, you’ll want just the opposite, for instance. Look for this separation of purposes to be a growing part of the recording equipment market, as well as that of musical equipment in general.

When putting together your own recording studio, consider these new technologies and how you can best use them for your specific purposes. You’ll want to take advantage of anything and everything that help you achieve that perfect sound, and today’s new digital recording equipment can get you there.

Since the mid-1990s brought the beginning of legal battles surrounding digital music, the subject of downloading music has been a tricky one. It’s hard to know what is legal and what isn’t, and the potential risks associated with downloading anything can sometimes make people hesitate to try new sites for music downloads.

The threat of viruses and spyware would be enough to make anyone wary. Add to that the fact the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has been extremely aggressive in its pursuit of illegal downloads, and you have some compelling reasons to be nervous about downloading music.

As long as you take precautions to protect yourself from malicious software and from potential litigation, though, downloading music is the best way to get new songs for your computer or MP3 player. You can buy individual songs rather than entire albums, and you don’t have to deal with having a house full of CD cases. Digital; music is most definitely the wave of the future, so it’s worth finding out how to locate safe and legal music downloads.

When you are looking for a site to download music from, your first concern should be making sure that it is legal. Some companies outside of the US claim to be exempt from US music distribution laws and therefore state that they have a right to offer music for download without a license to do so. The legality of these sites highly questionable. If you find yourself at a site which is offering songs at what seems like an unusually low price, there is probably a good reason for that: they are doing it illegally.

There are five basic factors that you should look at after legality: price, selection, format, digital rights management (DRM), and extras. The first two, price and selection, are very similar between the big download sites. The infamous-but-reformed Napster offers roughly the same amount of tracks as Apple’s iTunes, and the per-track price for both sites is 99 cents. However, Napster also offers an unlimited monthly plan that allows you to pay one price to download unlimited songs per month – something that iTunes has yet to explore. A lot of enthusiasts argue that this makes Napster a better value.

Selection is something that’s extremely important to many of us – more important, even, than price. When you want a particular album or you need to check out a new band, you don’t want to see that your preferred site for music downloads doesn’t carry that artist. Of course, you have to expect that it will happen sometimes – but if you can’t find any of your favorite music on a particular site, it’s time to move on.

If you plan to use your music downloads on a portable music player, it is essential to know what format is offered by the site that you choose and whether it is compatible with your portable player. Some sites or services offer only a proprietary format that can only be used with their software. This is very limiting and can frustratingly lock you into using only one type of musical device forever because your entire music library is in that format.

DRM is an issue that most of the internet community divided. This is a way for music distributors to control what happens to the music that you download. If you want to download music and then use it to burn CDs, you will need to make sure that the DRM allowances for that particular music download site will let you burn CDs of downloaded tracks. Some sites allow a maximum number of times you can burn a song or playlist, some require additional payment, and some will not allow you to burn CDs from downloaded songs at all.

Finally, the extras that you get with your music downloads might be enough to tip the scales one way or the other for you if you are deciding between two sites. Some music download services will include additional files with the download of albums – but not the malicious kind of additional files. These files are like the liner notes that come in CDs. This type of additional offering is great for those who don’t want to miss out on the great cover art and notes that bands include with their CDs.

Armed with this information, you should be able to make an informed decision about which site is best for you when you’re looking for legal music downloads. If you are having trouble making a choice between several contenders, there are plenty of site reviews online that will give you all of the information you need about the music download sites you’re interested in. When in doubt, stick to a well-known service to avoid running into problems with spyware, viruses, and questionable legality.

Gone are the days when the only option that you had to listen to music was to go to the music store and browse through the ocean of CDs available. Then there would be times when you like one song from a CD and do not really like the others but are forced to buy the whole thing since singles were not available.

Things have, however, changed over time and the Internet is full of all kinds of music. These sites allow you to download any song that you want. You can pick a mix of your favorites for different genres like romantic, fast track, jazz and a host of others and burn a CD. A creation like this can be a great option for a gift for someone special as well. You obviously have to pay for each song that you download if you are looking at legal music downloads. Do invest in this amount since fly-by-night sites will pollute your computer with viruses that will cause your system to crash.

Today you not only have various options of music that you can surf for on the Internet but also have numerous options on how you want to listen to them. You can listen to music on your computer, play it on a CD player, an MP3 player or download it on your iPod to ensure that you have something pleasant to wherever you go. If you decide to listen to the music that you have downloaded on your computer, then you will need to have an application that can play an mp3 file. You can download a Real Player or Quick Time or Windows Media Player from the Internet easily. Some of the latest computers do not require you do download such software and play CDs automatically.

Be careful not to open too many applications when you are listening to music if you computer is an old one. The older versions cannot handle too many applications that require a high amount of processing capability. If you try and push your system too much, the music will probably stutter and drag and there is a possibility that your computer might hang.

You might get so addicted to browsing and buying music online that you may forget that there is another option called the music stores that provides a different kind of pleasure. Though online music is convenient, browsing and finding something you like in a music store can be a magical experience.

Breaking into the music industry is hard work, and for many its nearly impossible. A combination of luck, skill, and connection used to be the only way to land a record deal, luckily with sites like Myspace, Youtube, and Facebook the ability for young or up and coming artists to make a dent and to even possibly break into the industry is more of a reality then ever.

Myspace in particular, is the leading site for artists to displays their skills and to attract fans. With a variety of services that cater to the needs of musicians it is easier then ever to interact with fans, organize shows, and promote new songs. It is a great tool for making contacts in the social and business worlds and then networking with them in order to fulfill a goal.

For many musicians this goal is as simple as getting their sound out there, and can be as difficult as becoming a big star. Myspace is rapidly becoming a quick and easy reference for magazines, television talk shows, and those all important music executives to see what is popular. Using standards as simple as whoever is leading the pack on the chart, makes it possible for musicians, no matter where they are from or who they are to gain fame and popularity.

A top spot among the music charts is considered the Holy Grail for many musicians. There is a chart for individual genres and a separate one for the site overall, ideally one would want a position on both charts.

These charts are important for many reasons, top among them being attracting the notice of music labels. Although your songs are able to stand on their own as a testimony of how talented and meaningful your music is; the main thing labels, fans, and others look at is the Total Play Counts that are displayed on your page.

The Total Play Counts are also what is used to rank musicians in the charts; saying that the Play Counts are important to your career is quite accurate, so keep them high.

The question then becomes how to achieve greater Play Counts. While you may be satisfied with the number you already have, chances are that it just is not enough. While you play gig after gig, sell your CDs out of your car, and tell everyone and anyone about your music if you do not go that extra step, then you will be just another musician using Myspace with no visible results.

A proven method of increasing Total Play Counts, a method that is even used by already established artists, is to use Myspace promo services. A tried and true method using promotional campaigning to increase total play counts using a slow trickle throughout the days and weeks, musicians find that if you use a trusted and proven music promotion and marketing service it is a great way to help them reach their targeted goal and send them on the way to being noticed by record labels and a wider fan base.

A proven and trustworthy service opens doors that would otherwise remain closed including larger venues, radio spots, and even label contracts. With Myspace being an indicator of what is popular in culture, everyone from magazines to executives use the site as an important marketing resource.

Don’t be left behind with only a handful of plays to your name. Using a reliable service or tool will elevate your status in the Myspace music charts and help you along the way to whatever goal you have in mind.

TuneBoom Pro is now available beyond the major labels and artists and to the independent artist for the first time. Market your music like TODAYS MOST POPULAR ARTISTS! Everything needed to succeed is here. Use EXACTLY the same strategies used by Todays Mega Superstars!
